5 Stars Two boys’ review: A fun action figure for Spider-Man fans
The Sandman was one of several Christmas 2008 additions to our sons’ action figure collection.

The package reads, “…press the button to activate a powerful sand-hammer smash attack! Interchangeable hands let you pack a really powerful punch!”

This action figure is well-built and very durable. The design comes from Spider-Man’s latest animated series, The Spectacular Spider-Man.

I found this character history: “Flint Marko was a two-bit thug, who’d been apprehended by Spider-Man multiple times before he was recruited by Hammerhead and the Big Man to become one of the crime lord’s commissioned Super Villains. Reluctantly, he was talked into being a human guinea pig for an illegal OsCorp experiment that was designed to give him sub-dermal silicon armor. But the experiment literally blew up in Flint’s face, transforming him into the Sandman, a sentient creature of silicon particles. He’ll battle Spider-Man because the web-slinger keeps getting in his way (and because he’s somewhat obsessed by his new found power), but Marko’s not hardcore evil. At heart, he’s still just a two-bit thug.”

One final note on these action figures: we paid about $5 each but many collectors have driven up prices to more than $20 each. Compare Amazon sellers and be selective. You can still find affordable action figures on Amazon but you need to do some research.
